Cubs Are Born Blind and Helpless!

When lion cubs are born, they are completely blind and helpless. In fact, they donโ€™t open their eyes until theyโ€™re about 10โ€“14 days old!

At birth, lion cubs weigh around 2โ€“4 pounds and rely entirely on their mothers for protection and nourishment. The first few weeks of their lives are spent hiding in dense vegetation, staying safe from predators like hyenas and leopards. During this time, the lionesses of the pride take turns caring for and nursing the cubs, while the males typically stay out of the way.

As the cubs grow, they start exploring their surroundings and learning vital skills like hunting and socializing. Their vision improves, and they begin to interact more with other pride members. But in those first few weeks, they are completely dependent on the care and protection of their pride.

So, while lions are known for their strength and ferocity, their cubs start out as vulnerable, little bundles of needโ€”just like any other baby animal!
