Digitltearsmusic- January edition
Newdad- MADRA (2024)
This album is quite a good mix of Rock and alternative Indie, providing the listener with one-of-a-kind experience, and considering the quality of this album it is very surprising that this is the band’s debut album. Consisting of 11 songs and being 41 minutes long this album is not too long, but not too short either. My personal favorites from this album would definitely be “Sickly sweet” and “Nosebleed”.
Kate Bush- Never for Ever (1980)
Despite turning 45 this year and being thrice my age this album did not fail to impress me. Itś whimsical sounding paired with ethereal vocals creates a special atmosphere. It’s a shame that the album is overshadowed by Tiktok-famous “Babooshka”, since there is much more to this album than just Babooshka, for example “Egypt”, “The Wedding List” or the famous “Army Dreamers”. This album is surely a necessary listen, since everyone will add at least one song to their playlist after giving it a listen!
Phantom Siita- Girlhood Memories (2024)
The first ever album by Japanese girl group “Phantom Siita” was surely a phenomenal debut. Produced by Japanese singer Ado, this group goes for a similar vibe as Ado. Emotional texts, incredible vocals and visuals alongside diversity of used instrumentals creates an extremely strong first impression and makes the listener yearn for more. My highlights of the album would definitely be “Otomodachi” and “Hanabami”.
FKA Twigs- EUSEXUA (2025)
The best January release. Clubish beats, deep, personal lyrics, interesting collaborations, experimental approach… EUSEXUA has it all: from pure chaos in “Drums of Death” to sensitive ballad “Keep it, Hold it” to dancey “Childlike Things” made in collaboration with North West. If you are living in Prague mark your calendars, since Twigs is coming to Prague on March 8th, 2025!! Even though i already mentioned multiple songs, my personal favourites would probably be either “Room of Fools” or “Sticky”, but theyŕe both beyond amazing, so i am not going to choose.
Doechii- Alligator Bites Never Heal (2025)
One of the most deserved Grammys this year, and one of my favourite hip-hop albums of all time. Doechi explores various themes, and pairing it with different beats and styles was definitely one of the best decisions she’s ever made. There are calmer tracks like “BLOOM” and “WAIT”, and some really energetic ones “NISSAN ALTIMA” and the TikTok sensation “DENIAL IS A RIVER”. My personal favorites from this mixtape would probably be “BOILED PEANUTS”, “CATFISH” or “GTFO”.
Charli XCX- Vroom Vroom EP (2016)
Produced by SOPHIE, this is for sure one of Charli’s most hyperpop works up to this day. The only collab on this EP is “Paradise” featuring Hannah Diamond. There really isn’t much to say about this work, since it is only 12 minutes long, so why don’t you give it a listen and see for yourself?
