Where do lions live?

Lions thrive in a variety of habitats, ranging from the open savannas and grasslands of sub-Saharan Africa to the dry forests and scrublands of India, where the rare Asiatic lion resides. These environments provide ample prey and open spaces for hunting, as well as occasional shade under trees or rocky outcrops where lions rest during the heat of the day. Though lions adapt well to different terrains, they depend on habitats with sufficient food and water sources, making conservation of these areas vital for their survival.
